Customer Question

I have a Yamata 8500 industrial sewing machine, the presser foot does not raise when I press the knee lift, nor does the handle raise it.

I would guess that the presser foot linkage to the handle that is supposed to raise it, has come unscrewed or unfastened and has fallen apart.

I regret that I have nothing better to offer in the way of diagnosis than that.

I suppose that you will either wish to look into the problem yourself (which would require disassembly of the machine to some extent) or else you would want to have the machine serviced (either under warranty provisions, or outside of them, depending upon the machine's age.)

Is your level of mechanical skill (and tools) sufficient for you to wish to disassemble (and reassemble) and examine the machine yourself?

What is the machine's age, measured from its date of purchase as a new device?
