Good morning! My mom got Roomba # XXXXX in June, 2008. Now when we try to charge it the orange light flashes slowly, but after a few minutes, we get Err5. (Charging error 5). I have tried the reset several times, but still get the Err5 after attempting a recharge.Any ideas? Thank you. Chuck
Optional Information: Make: Roomba Model: 500 series
error 5 shows your having problem with the wheels not moving as they should ,,
Dear XXXXX,
I can read the manual! You didn't even read my question. I said I had a charging Err 5, not a runtime Error 5. Yes, I have tried the reset as the manual suggests, and that did not help. That is why I tried asking an expert, someone who could go beyond the manua.

Check the output dc voltage of your Power Supply Unit. It should measure 22.5 volts. How are you charging your Roomba? Do you use a homebase? If you use a homebase, disconnect it and try charging by connecting the PSU directly into the charging jack on the side of the Roomba. The charging err 5 is difficult to narrow down. Without a voltmeter you cannot verify the power supply is presenting the correct voltage to the Roomba. So at this point you could possibly have a defective PSU or a failed charging system component on the PCB or the battery is marginal/defective.
why the poor rating, this hurts my rating and even cause me to be booted, i sent you the info on this for the run time
Checking the charger output is more like an answer I was looking for, but not worth $28.
