My son replaced my garbage disposal and now the water is not draining out of the dishwasher. Could this be related or did my washer just break at the same time

Hi my name is XXX, X can help you with your issue, most of the time that this occurs it's actually due to the plug on the drain stub not being knocked out. I doubt if the dishwasher failed at this particular time, check the knockout inside the garbage disposal and make sure that has been removed, a lot of plumbers forget to remove it also. What I do is take the drain from the dishwasher loose and then knock it out with a 1/2 inch nut driver most require a hard tap using a hammer to break them out. Then with the power off to the disposer reach in and take the plastic piece out. Again on all disposers the drain stub for the dishwasher has a knock out if that is not removed the dishwasher will not drain.
