Friends were married in Scotland 8 years ago but have since

Customer Question

Friends were married in Scotland 8 years ago but have since moved to ny with gc's they co-own property in Scotland and may get divorced. How does this work being the divorce will be here in the states?

The place of marriage and ownership of property is not relevant to divorce. They have to get divorced in the place that at least one of them lives. As they both live in NY they will have to get divorced in NY.
