parental consent for moving home

This answer was rated:

me and a lass have deep emotional feeling and a connection. her family are abusive but shes too scared to do anything about it as she has had a rough time with them in the past. we want to move in together. she will be 17 in November and I want to know when she is able to leave home without parental consent. I would like her to move in with me but I don't know what the law has to say about it please help.

Thank you for your question.

She can leave home without parental consent from the age of 16.

I hope this helps. Please leave a positive response so that I am credited for my time.

are you positive? because the nspcc disagree?

The NSPCC are wrong then and must be telling you what the position is in England, not Scotland.

Here is a link to the Scottish government website which confirms what you can do at what age and it is quite clear that you can leave home without consent from age 16:

www.scotland.gov.uk/publications/2009/04/02155040/1

Happy to discuss further. Please leave a positive rating so that I am credited for my time.

where could I find a list of laws like that about ages in England?

The CAB website would be a good starting point. See:

http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/housing_e/housing_finding_a_place_to_live_e/young_people_and_housing.htm#Leavinghomevoluntarily

Interestingly I see that the age is 16 in England as well.
