I live in Scotland, and 5 years ago transferred my mothers house into my name, after my father died. How would this be taken into account in a divorce settlement?C

Thank you for your question.You would argue that it should not be taken into account for two reasons. Firstly it was not acquired through the efforts of the parties to the marriage. Secondly, it is in the nature of a gift which is not matrimonial property and does not fall to be divided between husband and wife.I hope this helps.
