My 2006 Saturn Relay will not start does not crank it

Customer Question

My 2006 Saturn Relay will not start does not crank it appears to be an electrical issue with the key on the stereo does not work but the fan does and you can hear the relays under the hood actuate. I also noticed that the security light on the dash continues to Blink whether the doors open the keys on or the keys off.

I also hook the computer up to the van and it's not able to communicate with it
Expert:  rpmdiag replied 5 months ago.

The security system is keeping you out of the car. I attached a doc for you to read and reset the system yourself. If this does not work, then there is a problem that requires a scan tool to be attached to the computer system. The scan tool needs to be a Tech2

thanks, Ron

As I'm going through the reset process at the end of the first cycle the security light did not stop blinking. And I had already tried to hook up a scan tool and it would not communicate
Expert:  rpmdiag replied 5 months ago.

Okay, I mentioned that a Tech 2 was needed to do this. Is that what you have? If so, then you have a break in the wiring harness somewhere preventing communications or a bad computer will also cause this.

Thanks again and please remember to rate me 5 stars and keep this link for when you need me again later on.

I will have to check to see if it's a Tech 2 scanner I know it's a Snap-On unit but I'm not sure which one
Expert:  rpmdiag replied 5 months ago.

Okay, just let me know.

The only thing that Esther says I'm so Snap-on OBD2 system
Expert:  rpmdiag replied 5 months ago.

Yep, that's not going to work for this. We won't be able to tell if it's a flash update, a sensor failure or a computer issue.

Thanks again, Ron

Don't let that stop you from giving me a 5 star rating though, I'm just the messenger here:).

Thanks, Ron

Does it make a difference that nothing on the gauge cluster is working at all
Expert:  rpmdiag replied 5 months ago.

Please start where I said to.

Expert:  rpmdiag replied 5 months ago.

The testing I recommended will tell us if the cluster is a problem. Trust me please as I may continue to help you.
