Customer Question

Opel Astra Classic's Radiator fan sometimes it comes on as soon as I start my car...sometimes I can drive for a week or so without this issue. Sometimes it comes on immediately when I start my car but would stop after driving few meters away. I have changed thermostat, temperature sensor and coolant sensor but this did not help. What could be causing this ....any idea? I took it to GM and they clean ECU and for few weeks it ran fine.

Hi there,

I would say your dealer did find a poor connection at the ECM, now it needs some further attention.

The dealer needs to look at coolant temp data etc with a scan tool before they touch anything under the bonnet.

Could be a poor crimp or loose female terminal (poor contact) at the ECM, or a rub through on the engine harness.

A technician has disturbed the fault, and was momentarily ok, but it has now come back.

Hi again,

Has the fault reoccurred, and have you been back to the dealer?

I hope my advice has been of assistance to you.

Kind regards
