Hi All, I have a 2000 Saturn LW2 with a 3.0L DOHC engine.
I need to replace the timing belt and pulleys, ( 1 pulley split, is still intact but was close to destroying the engine ) & as i can see there is a timing belt tool kit that is needed to do this repair. Do you really need this kit or is it just to ease instillation. The kit # XXXXX XXXXX 6687
Thank You .....George

I am sorry that you have not been helped yet. I just came online and saw your question.

Yes, you definitely need to use the timing belt tool kit. Without it the camshafts will roll on you and not stay in position as you install the belt. Also one of the tools is used to take out slack in the timing belt during the installation process.

I would not attempt this job without it.
