Car is a 2000 Saturn LS with a 3.0 V-6. Engine trouble code is po102. Is there a way to check the mass air sensor to be sure that's the problem?
Optional Information: Make: Saturn Model: LS Year: 2000 Already Tried: Replaced mass air sensor with another used one- cleared the code- light reappeared. Nothing says replacement was any good- need to know if they can be tested. Mass airflow reading was .27 G/S at idle, surged to .38 when throttle was stabbed. What do these #'s mean? Are they within the correct range?
Hi . Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer. The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor measures the amount of air that is ingested by the engine. The MAF output voltage is a function of the power required to keep the sensing elements at a fixed temperature above ambient temperature as incoming air cools the sensing elements. The ECM continuously monitors the MAF sensor signal and sets this DTC when the signal voltage is lower than expected.DTC PARAMETERS DTC P0102 will set when the following conditions exist:
When this code is set, the ECM will calculate the airflow from the other sensor inputs.DTC P0102 is a (type B) DTC.DIAGNOSTIC AIDS To locate an intermittent problem use Scan tool to monitor MAF reading with engine running.Wiggling wires while monitoring MAF reading and voltage may locate area where an open or short to ground exist.Check for a stuck throttle plate. Observe the throttle angle with the throttle closed. If the reading is not within the typical Scan tool values, check for faults in the TP sensor circuit.
