Hi,I own a 2000 Saturn SL1 with around 98k miles. I just bought it. This is what I have done so far.- Changed the spark plugs/wires- Changed the ETCS - Changed oil- cleaned the coil packs- changed thermostatThen I got a "Service Engine Soon" light with a P301 code. Cylinder #1 misfire. It "putt putts" out the exhaust at idle only. When I drive it doesn't do it. Then I tried:- Changed #1 fuel injector (the one going into the first cylinder, not sure if that was right)- added multiple bottles of fuel system cleaner and fuel injector cleaner- I also sprayed brake clean around the front of the engine (not sure where I am supposed to spray to even check for a gasket leak)It still putt putts. What could it be?Thanks!
Welcome to JustAnswer, my name is XXXXX XXXXX X'm here to help get your problem resolved. These engines have alot of problems with the intake manifold gaskets leaking around the #1 cylinder so thats likely the problem. Look between the #1 and #2 intake runners at the cylinder head and see if the gasket is wrinkled or spray starting fluid in that area to see if idle changes if so replace gasket...I would consider replacing either way as its so common and you already replaced injector. Cylinder 1 is closest to passenger side, here are replacement instructions for intake gasket/manifold. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.

Do you know all the specific tools I will need to complete this job? Like all the sizes and such?
Just your basic tool set with a torque wrench for intake gasket will be needed. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.
