not sure what he is looking for here but when he removes the timing chain and the head bolts, hidden inside the front corner of the head inside the timing chain opening as viewed through the valve cover opening, there are 2 bolts at the outer edges that may be soaked with oil and he might not see them.
tell him to use air or brake cleaner and spray the area inside th head there and he will see2 bolts there.
he has to remove them completely to get the head off.
aside from everyday engine stuff thats about all I can think of.
replace the head bolts after installing the head with NEW bolts since the old ones are torque to yield bolts. (they stretch when tightened)
