Hello,I will be glad to try and assist you with this,Welcome to Just Answer.

Hi.

From what you have described here you could be correct with the engine not getting enough fuel pressure to be able to start the vehicle.

You know you have spark and it does try to start so it is getting some fuel but most likely not enough.

What has to be done from here is the fuel pressure needs tested with a fuel pressure gage. The pressure should be 38 to 44 p.s.i. with the key turned on and engine off.The test port is down on the drivers side of the engine in the fuel line itself.

If the pressure is lower then this then most likely the fuel pump is weak (very common) and it will need replaced.

The fuel pump can cost up to $500 depending on your location and where it is purchased and can take up to 1.5 hours to have it replaced.

Some after market parts stores may sell a cheaper pump for this vehicle.

ty very informitive
is the palce u check the fuel pump pressure right off a thin round part there looks like a cap on an over sized value stim that u would hook up to

Yes there should be a cap you unscrew on the fuel line leading up to the fuel injector rail.

You would remove this cap and test fuel pressure here with a fuel pressure gage.

do i need to hit accept each time or wait till the end it is really cold out side in the 20's last night it could be watter in the fuel line would that most likey be in the filter it seems easy to pop that out and see if you think that is a good idea you really have been great

If your fuel filter is plugged it can cause this problem as well.

The fuel filter should be replaced once a year or every 15,000 miles.

Also these vehicles had issues with the coolant temp sensor which sits on the drivers side bottom of the side of the cylinder head, this sensor would become inoperative and can leak coolant into the wiring connector which causes this problem.

if this is the case the sensor and connector need replaced, this is a very common problem on these earlier years.

You can click accept when you feel ready to do so at any time.

Thanks Pete!

lol this is funny because the car leaks watter a lot so we dont use ainty freze untill it gets cold we forgot last year and got a huge crack in the block which i fixed with J B weld lol
really it worked lol on another note if it come to the fuel pump it is 150 by its self with full assimly it is like 200 should i get the 200 would that make it easyer i do not have made skill but i can beat my nukels around with most shade tree guys back when every thing had a little more room around it and less computers on it lol

If it is the fuel pump it would be best to purchase the entire unit. Some of the cheaper units that need parts swapped over may not work at that well and may fail sooner.Plus you should get a whole new sender with the entire new $200 unit for your fuel gage.
