2004 Saturn Vue: The steering column..squeaking..reservoir

Resolved Question:

The steering column on my 2004 Saturn Vue is squeaking. Is there a reservoir for fluid that I can check? What might be the problem?

HelloCustomer is it noisier when it is cold? Does the steering seem to work fine?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

Initially, it did only make the noise when cold, but lately it seems to be doing it even when the engine is warm. The steering seems to be fine.

And is the squeaking coming from inside of the vehicle?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
Yee, it seems to be coming from the steering column

Okay. There are a lot of problems with the steering column making noise on this vehicle. Most of the time the steering column must be replaced to fix this. In some cases the plastic upper and lower covers on the column will warp and also cause this. I would remove these and see if the problem persists. If it does then the column may need to be replaced.
