Saab 93: 2002 Saab 93 Convertible. Coolant Low indicator came

Resolved Question:

2002 Saab 93 Convertible. Coolant Low indicator came on and I drove it another 10 miles when steam poured out of heater vents. Heater Core? Must I replace it now? Or Can I just fill it up with coolant and get by?

Greetings twoedged sword777, The fact that steam came out of the dash vents indicates a fairly large leak in the heater core...This is a common failure on the OEM heater cores due to poor construction...The replacement core will be of much better quality and will last the life of the vehicle...I would advise having it replaced before it separates completely; but if you are strapped for $$ at the moment, try refilling with coolant and driving locally while carefully monitoring level...Odds are it will leak out onto interior floor fairly quickly forcing an immediate replacement; but I have seen some last a bit longer ...depends on the extent of the leakage...If I can assist further please let me know...jeffrey590
