I have a 454 in a 1993 motorhome can you tell me the intake and exhaust valve setting ,
JA: How many miles are on the car? How has your mileage been lately?
Customer: 56000 miles,valves were set in mich
JA: What is the model of your '93 Chevy?
Customer: winabago 30ft motorhome
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: no but my brother tighten them down then give them onefourth turn more
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no just want the right valve setting

Looking at the service manual, the valve on your engine are hydraulic and need only be torqued down to 40 ft lbs, Is this not matching what you have?
If not then the best way to adjust them is to do it while running. With it running, slowly loosen each rocker until it starts to make noise, then tighten till it stops and add 1/4 turn.
