The electric awning will not retract
JA: What's the make/model/year of your RV?
Customer: 2008 Jayco Jay Flight
JA: What is the model of your '08 RV?
Customer: Jay Flight G2
JA: Are you fixing your RV yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Trying to get it to retract so we can take it to the service dept. The motor runs but the gears don't engage
JA: How old is the transmission? Have you checked the brake switch?
Customer: This is a travel trailer, not a motor home.

Hi my name is Robert.....

IF the motor is running that means it is getting voltage and it should be going in for you, from what you describe you have a bad motor. Sometimes what you can do is push in on the awning arms and then zip tie the awning arms so they do not come out, it would take about 6 zip ties on each arm. Also depending on the awning you might be able to manually run the room in, click HERE and see page 8 and see if that looks like your awning. IF it will not run in manually you might have to pin the roller tube on the other side, remove the motor and then let the awning come in after pulling the pin on the roller tube....
