That sounds like a BAL Accuslide. They are not a good design and have these sort of problems all the time. If the cables broke (highly possible) you will need to get new ones and have them installed. This is not a DIY project! This is hard for even seasoned professionals and I hate working on these. I am attaching a copy of the manual so you can look at how this is done. Please get back to me if you need more input later as all follow ups are included in our fee. http://www.norcoind.com/bal/downloads/accuslide/accuslide_service-manual.pdf
I am attaching a slide out video for you. About 20 minutes and if you want to tackle this, it should help. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=bal+accu+slide+adjustment&view=detail&mid=C35365CEB79DB452BD19C35365CEB79DB452BD19&FORM=VIRE
Notice how many views this has had! Over 15,000 so you can get an idea how many problems this has. And trust me...........adjustment is not as easy as he makes it out to be and all 4 have to be adjusted and it can take hours. At least the video says a lot and shows you how it is done. Hope this proves helpful. Please get back to me if you need more later as all follow ups are included in our fee.
