Had a fault code and check engine light on my 2006 Travel Supreme motor home with a 500HP Cummins - MID 128 Engine PID 411 FMI 0. When I shut the engine off and restarted the check engine light was gone. Can you tell what the fault code is?

Fault Code 2359: EGR Differential Pressure Sensor – Data Valid but More Than Normal Range

Code Description

EGR differential pressure sensor measures exhaust gas pressure drop across EGR differential pressure orifice. Calculate amount of EGR flow into intake manifold using this pressure drop.

If PID 411 FMI 0 (Fault Code 2359) is active after a key cycle and engine is not running, it will be set inactive only after meeting these conditions:

  • Engine coolant temperature is more than 154°F (67°C)
  • Intake manifold air temperature is more than 45°F (7°C)
  • Ignition switch transitions from ON to OFF a total of four times while depressing brake pedal.
  • EGR differential pressure sensor reading is within a set calibration threshold near zero.

Cause

EGR Differential Pressure Sensor – data valid but more than normal operating range – moderately severe level. EGR differential pressure sensor failed automatic calibration procedure or EGR differential pressure reading is not valid for engine operating conditions.

Possible Causes

  • Blocked turbocharger control shutoff valve filter
  • Blocked or leaking low or high EGR differential pressure tube
  • EGR valve stuck open or closed.
  • EGR connection tube hoses or tubes leakage
  • Failed EGR differential pressure sensor
  • Failed EGR connection tube hose
  • Failed variable geometry turbocharger
  • Failed variable geometry actuator
  • Failed turbocharger control valve
  • Failed turbocharger control shutoff valve
  • Leakage in air line supplying air pressure to turbocharger control shutoff valve, variable geometry actuator or turbocharger control valve
  • Incorrectly installed EGR differential pressure tubes and sensors.
