Just aqured a 2003 class A hurricane model 31Q.The shift

Customer Question

Just aqured a 2003 class A hurricane model 31Q.The shift selector is hard to shift and now cannot get out of Drive1? The rv was orig purchased in New Hampshire and the emrg.brake cable was so corroded has to drown it with WD40 Special and then hie it with wrenches to free the emerg brake fully.A friend believes that where the cable goes into near the front of the transmission that it may be insidewith gunk or whatever built up? can anyone advise remedy other than g taking to expensive tranny shop.the trans oil does not look or smell burned. Thanks Paul It is powered bt a Ford Triton V10.

Okay, first things first. You need to set the emergency brake and block the wheels so the RV can't roll. Now remove the cable from the transmission lever so it is free. If the shifter is still hard to move then follow up to the other end of the cable and remove it from the shifter crank end. At this point it is likely the shifter will move easily and you just need to replace that cable.
