That is USUALLY a sign that the LP pressure is too low at the tank regulator. It needs to be checked and adjusted (if needed) at least once a year. Many owners have never had it checked. The other appliances are not as easily affected, but the stove pilot is due to the small amount of LP gas it uses and so if the pressure is too low, it won't stay on. This needs to be adjusted with a manomoeter. One way you can kind of tell if there is a problem is to turn a stove top burner up high and see if there is any yellow or orange in the flame tips.
