When I try to crank the roof theirs no clicking noise roof just falls back down what wrong with the crank

Are you referring to the vent lid?

Or is this a pop up camper?

IF this is a pop up camper, the ratcheting mechanism is probably broken and that is what makes the "clicking" sound you hear. It also holds the sprocket in place so it can't come back down again. Not something most people can repair by themselves. IF you are already out camping you might be able to call a mobile tech in that area to come and assist you with this. Hope that is helpful here.
