Have you had the batteries out or disconnected recently? That would usually blow the reverse polarity fuses on the converter. If you can get back to me with the make and model of your converter that would be helpful. Most of that vintage are made by either Magnetek or WIFCO. Both have fuses that can be checked. If you have a digital multimeter we can run some tests to find out if it is going to be bad or not. Be sure you have good A/C power to it. Flip that breaker off and then back on again.
