I am having a power problem with the power cord on my 1997 35 foot pace arrow vision. Everything is working when plugged into the 220 30 amp BUT when the air conditioners are working the extension cords ( heavy duty 110 25 foot) attached get warm. The plugs will melt together after a long period of running in hot weather. No circuit breakers shutoff.

Hi: Thank you for coming to Just Answer with your question. My name is XXXXX XXXXX perhaps I can assist you with this issue. That 30 amp cord is only 120 VAC and not 220 VAC. And unless you use an RV cord you will have trouble.............even then you can only run ONE A/C at a time. 30 amps isn't enough amperage for two. Besides melting the cord you take a chance on burning up the A/C which would be expensive. Hope that clears that up.............Check this and then we can go from there...............all follow ups are included in our fee. No limit to time or number or responses. Positive Feedback in the form of a "smiley face" would be greatly appreciated when I have fully addressed all your concerns relating to this issue.
I used the 30 amp cord that came with RV. The extension cord was the same gauge and it melted on one leg. Last year it worked fine. My a/c switches from one a/c to the other to prevent burning up. Why would the plug melt and not trip breaker
The usual cause is the breaker is defective from being overheated. Low voltage at the source raised the amperage and the heat in the circuit. If you had other things on AC mode like the fridge and water heater that takes away from the power for the A/C. If you don't know the feed voltage you should take a reading. You are going to lose about 5 volts from that long a cord. I would replace the breaker and be sure it is a HACR rated breaker.
