One of the cables on the slide-out on my 1994 Coachmen 22 foot 5th wheel seems to have "seized up" ....the slide out will go out about 6 inches but no further. We have lubricated everything, and tried to move it manually, but to no avail. It will retract, so it must not be the motor. Is there anything we can do to aleviate this problem, or must it go to a shop?
lubricating the parts and manually overriding
Hi: Thank you for coming to Just Answer with your question. My name is XXXXX XXXXX perhaps I can assist you with this issue.Whose system is this? Several companies make cable operated slides. You should have a manual on this or the name may be on the motor.
Unfortunately I do not have that information available at this time...we are currently 160 miles from the trailer and its manuals. We intend to spend the next few days there, and if we have not solved the problem before we return, i will contact you again. (could take my computer, but there is no cell or internet access at the trailer site).
Without knowing what you have I can't really be much help. It sounds like perhaps a cable is coming off one of the pulleys and binding up or is frayed and binding up. Go and you can CLICK HERE for a copy of the BAL AccuSlide Manual. Print out a copy to take with you and see if this is what you have. Then get back to me if you need more or have another model. All follow ups are included in our fee.
Okay...it sounds like we may have to take it to a shop...had hoped to no longer take it on the road again after these many years...getting too old.Thank you, XXXXX XXXXX get back to you next week if we have a further question.
O.K.............you can Bookmark this and come back to it any time.
