Hi: Thank you for coming to Just Answer with your question. My name is XXXXX XXXXX perhaps I can assist you with this issue.

Is this on a separate thermostat or on the same one as the back? What is the name on it and is it digital or analog?

Customer replied 284 days and 21 hours ago.

Randall -

The thermostat is one unit in the back room of the RV and it is made by Intellitech. We set the temperature via a slide switch. The thermostat has controls for the front unit and back unit. The back unit operates fine, the front unit blows air but the compressor appears to not be coming on and providing cool air.

Any chance you can get up on the roof and take the cover off and verify that or not? That will also give you a chance to see if you see any evidence of leaking of the refrigerant which shows up as oily residue on the lines. And I need the make and model number of the A/C so I know what we are working with here.

Customer replied 284 days and 21 hours ago.

Randall -

I have been on the roof and removed the cover. I have seen the compressor temporarily "kick on " for maybe a minute and then shut down. There is no oily residue any where on the lines or the cylindrical compressor canistor either. Following is all the info I took of the compressor :
Tecumseh
L1397
RK136AT- 032- A2
RKA5J10EXA
Serial # XXXXX
TC0536
115 V
Single Phase

That usually is an indication of a bad start capacitor or PRCR resistor. That usually comes as a kit and is not expensive. If you are somewhat handy with tools this is usually not a hard part to replace. No name on the cover? The model number is XXXXX visible once you take the vent cover off so you can see the bottom of the unit. On ducted units that won't work. Your owner's manuals should give you this as well. I can get you some part numbers if you can get me the brand. "Mach" is a Coleman unit. "Penguin" is a Dometic model.

See what you can find and get back to me as all follow ups are included in our fee. No limit as to time or number of responses. Positive Feedback would be appreciated once I have addressed all your concerns.
