Hi: Thank you for coming to Just Answer with your question. My name is XXXXX XXXXX perhaps I can assist you with this issue.
What is the rating on those tires you have?
The 225's are E's and have a maximum load rating of 2750 lbs. the 235/16's have a max load rating of 3500 lbs. I was just wondering about clearance issues as I won't have my trailer until tomorrow.
Every trailer is different.............most you can go up one size. In any event you would be better off with "G" rated tires and don't scrimp...........get Michelin's or Toyo tires. More money but you won't have blowouts. This is a common problem on larger trailers. They put the bare minimum tires on there they can get away with to save money. Check the rim size for them as sometimes you have to go with wider rims. As long as the tires have clearance between them and don't rub on the bottom when compressed you are probably fine.
