Customer Question

I have a 1966 Dodge Motor home. It originaly had a 318. In 1976 a 440 eng was installed. I jus recently started driving it. When I'm at between 55-60 mph the rpms are at 3000. I'm not sure if this is normal for this vehicle. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for using Just Answer, I will quickly, and methodicly work through your repair needs.......Thank you.........Michael hi, the chassis you have is an M series Dodge, 3K rpm @ 60 mph is not abnormal for that unit, back in the day there were changes you could make (parts now are difficult if not impossible to find) the rear end gears could be swapped. Problem is you loose bottom end for top end. Meaning starting off speed, vs. cruising speed...........Keep it on the road it is a classic!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Michael, this is Michael again. On the 1966 Dodge Motor home, (the chassis is an M series Dodge). I was wondering if you knew where I could get a shop manual for my RV. Also, do you know what size and type of tire should be on the vehicle? Right now it has 8R17.5's, and I'm not able to find definitive info on the tires?

Thank you, XXXXX XXXXX time.

Michael

Hi, go or call your local library, and ask for Motors Auto Repair Manual in that year. Once you locate it, you will need to go down, and copy the documents you require...........
