When test driving this coach the ride felt very soft and body sway appears excessive.

adcice sort on the most likly problem, thoughts, shocks ? springs ? other ?

Your looking at a 20 year old suspension
If it was tipping in the turns it is the springs
If when you went over dips and it kept going up and down it is the shocks
Now you could have worn out sway bar bushings, if that happens it could sway more then normal also
