Hello and Welcome to justanswer...You should have been told / given / supplied a "code" for the radio unit from the seller...without it , the radio wont work.To explain - these radios are code / security protected - the idea being , if they are stolen, the thief doesn't have the code so he would either have to pay to get it - or the radio is no good to him / her - thus reducing the attraction of pinching the set in the first place.Too - as soon as the power to the radio is disconnected, even legitimately, the radio will lock out and will need the code inputting. Each radio has its own unique code. For the radio to be showing ERROR, someone has been trying to input a wrong code - or inputting the code incorrectly. After so many attempts, the set will go to ERROR.To get it out of ERROR mode - you need to leave the radio powered up / ON...for as long as it takes for the radio to switch the error message off - and CODE to come up... whereby then the correct code needs to be entered to get it to work. This procedure as above - leaving the set powered, can take 3 mins up to several hours - it depends how many wrong attempts have been made at code entry. ( its not wise to guess at codes - one will never guess the correct code - there are just too many permutations)...When you leave the set powered up - you must not switch it off - or even start the engine - switch the key on / off... this will re start the internal timer - so you need to prepare for a time when you can leave the radio powered / display on for as long as it takes as above. If you dont have the correct code - ask the seller for it.If he doesn't have it - then you have to pay to get it Im afraid. Renault wont be able to help you not unless you know the VIN of the car it came out of... The other way to get the code is to use one of the radio code companies / sites to get the code - which is obtained from the use of the serial number on the set - so you will need to pull it out to get the serial number to get the code then. One such radio code site is HERE - click the link to go there- ...follow the instruction on the site to get your code.So thats the way forward on this one now to get your radio sorted for you.Kind Rgds - MIKE.NB : Please remember to only rate my answer when you are 100% satisfied.......IF you feel the need to rate negatively, please stop and reply to me via the REPLY TO EXPERT tab with any issue you have. Please do click one of the smiley faces now for me - at least the OK or preferably above - Thank You kindly.
