STEeRING WHEEL WONT LOCK ON REMOVEING THE KEY CARD BUT THE ELECTRICS ARE WORKING BECAUSE I CAN HEAR IT CLICKING. WHAT IS AT FAULT? AND HOW CA NIT BE FIXED. MOT MAN SAID ITS A FAIL BUT HE KNOWS THE ELECTRICS ARE FINE. I WORK A BIT AT CARS AND AM RESTORING A MITSI STARION SO I KNOW ABOUT STEERING COLUMS BUT THE ELECTRIS IN THESE CAR ARE SCARY! MEGANE 03
Lot more complex than the Starion your working on...
Look in the fusebox under the bonnet, there is a brown plug, make sure this hasn`t got water damage in it,
eh? is that all mick. I thought it might be the lock mechaism itself at fault since i said all the electrics are all good but i'll give it a check and thanks. any other information would be very helpful and thanks .I do quite a bit of engine, chassis and other work on various cars. but.. and no offence meant, these renault meganes are the biggest piece of junk, mechanicly and more so electronicly. i will give you the right rating whenyou get back to me even if the previous advice dont work
cheers jack

.mick it turned out to be the lock mechanism. i took it apart and after i took out the reverse thread bolt i could see i was well worn inside( Lock bar nearly rounded) and the box itself was working right. the steering locked one way but not the other. i did try the fuses and brown plug first and it was fine. so decided to take it apart. it was simple too
anyway thanks for your help chum!
