Dear Kate Do you think that if wrote a letter to my mother

Dear Kate

Do you think that if wrote a letter to my mother setting out (sensitively) some of the problems and hurt she causes by behaving the way she does that this would cause more harm than good? Connie

Hi Connie,

It probably would not help her change her behavior. But on the other hand, if you feel it would help you work through some of the feelings you have about your mother's behavior, then it is a good idea. Even if she does not respond well, saying what you need to say can help you move on and heal.
