Hello,Customer and welcome back to Just Answer.

Can you elaborate a little more on your question?

"When might negative messages be delivered..." In what context are you asking this? Regarding an interpersonal relationship?

Thanks for any additional detail you can provide.

Hello again,Customer

As an example, a negative message that comes to mind requiring communication, is an employee being let go or laid off from his/her job. In this case, the best method of communication to deliver the negative message, would be in person. The employee deserves nothing less.

When a subject of contention based upon negative occurrences needs to be addressed, very often, an email or printed mail might be a more comfortable method to express this, so the two parties will avoid embarrassment and further negative behavior.

If the party receiving the negative message cannot be reached by any other method and/or it's a matter of expediency, the telephone would be the best choice, in this case.

If you had a more specific situation in mind, please let me know, and I would be happy to elaborate along those lines.
