JA: What's the make/model number of your device? How old is it?

Customer: can you help my establish an account for using roku
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: first time have always been able to access Roku before

The best way to do this is to go, on your computer, to https://channelstore.roku.com/search/getv (click for link),

click on Add Channel,

then go to your roku and the GETV apps should show there. Select it, and it should then show a "link code" on the tv screen.

Take that code, and enter it here: https://www.getv.org/roku

That will activate the service so you can begin watching.
