I have a Magnavox VCR/DVD combo machine that both plays DVDs

Customer Question

I have a Magnavox VCR/DVD combo machine that both plays DVDs and records VHS tapes to DVDs. I hadn't used it for MANY months and tried playing a couple of old VHS movies the other day. It worked, but there was a loud, low-pitched hum during playback. What would cause this?

No, Antony. It only happens with the VCR setting. D L

And it does this with more than one tape?

Expert:  Infotech Anthony replied 8 months ago.

As well as the hum does the sound appear to be low too?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
I've only played 2 tapes, Anthony, and yes it happened with both of them. DL

The sound itself is it low below the hum or is the sound good and loud you just have the hum?

Expert:  Infotech Anthony replied 8 months ago.

So sound lowish below the hum or very good sound but an annoying hum

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
The volume is OK. It's just that the low-pitched hum is very loud and annoying and also causes you to miss some of the dialogue because it is constant during playback.

OK the audio head is contaminated please get this> video head cleaning tape <<<CLICK

Its likely the audio head is contaminated so the sound is appearing bad like this.

This certainly seems like a reasonable solution. I'd like to buy this and try it before I give you a rating and before I pay the balance of the fee. I can run out later today, buy one and use it. Then I can get back with you and tell you the results, rate you and pay you. Is that satisfactory? Thanks. DL
