I just received a Tascam 202 MKIII double auto reverse deck Teac yesterday from E Bay,
Pay Pal. I can't get the sound on. The tape moves but no sound. What's the secret?
I tried contacting the seller at ***********, but that site is no longer
available. Please help me, and thank you.

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, the only user doable tries (if have not been done):

  • • check/replace the RCA-to-RCA pair from the Tascam's OUTPUT L & R to the amp or receiver;
  • • plug in a pair of headphones;
  • • clean the record/play & heads as well as the pinch roller and capstan with suitable cleaning solution and foam swab.

Please post back results / observations of the above once tried.

All others would be internal to the Tascam's circuitry.
