Hi welcome to just answer

How long have you owned this?

When was the time it worked?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
That's a good question, I'm really not sure how old it is. I am the original owner. Can you tell by the model number? The last time I used it was approximately 2-3 years ago.

Thanks

When you tried to press the open button, do you hear the motor running?

You might want to bring your ear close to the system to hear the sound.

Also did your dvd came with system disk?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
I heard a slight grinding sound. I know previously the "Standby" light/power was always on. This is no longer the case.
No, my DVD player did not come with any disk.
I took a couple of pictures of the back of the unit, which shows the serial #, and all of the coaxial connections. Is there someway I could send these pictures to you?
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
I think I just found the way to send you the pictures. I'll just try it one picture at a time.
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Now I'll send you the 2nd picture.

So the standby light does not stay on when you plugged the system?

The grinding noise is only when you press open button?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
No, the light does not stay on.
Yes, the grinding noise was only when I pressed the open button.
Did you receive the 2 pix's I sent you?
Expert:  electronicsguy replied 8 months ago.

Yes,

I did received the pictures. I am afraid that the system might need to be taken to a local repair shop for diagnosis. The power supply has a problem and the firmware has been corrupted. I am now thinking of your repair cost vs replacement.

The tray is pushed by a motor, a set of gears and sometimes a belt. The grinding noise is coming from gears that are trying to open or close the tray when the sensor is not working.

I am limited here online to what you can do to fix the system.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
I know! I'm thinking replacing the unit would make more sense then repairing it.
Expert:  electronicsguy replied 8 months ago.

Thanks for the update. The unit is from 2002 and I think it's time.

Thanks for using just answer.
