Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.
If the volume is very faint, and/or distorted, that is a common problem when a component in an amplifier (or, in an audio amplifier stage) has failed, leading to change in amplification qualities and/or fidelity.
Is that the case? if so, then esp. if your device is fairly old/classic, it will require an old-fashioned component-level repair professional to track down the defective component, locate a replacement for it, and replace it too.
Tell me the maker and model #, and I will advise you further.
You don't have to rate until the answer you need is received.
So - did I describe, and do I understand, the nature of the problem with the sound, accurately?
