I just purchased the dvd video recorder model # ***** I have it connected to the tv with hdmi cable plus the red white yellow cables, it will play back store bought dvds but I cant get it to play back a recorded dvd disk even though the disk shows it has data burned to it. the dvds I am using are Memorex dvd-rw formatted, should I only be using the hdmi cable alone.

When trying to playback the recorded DVD's? Are you trying to use the HDMI Input, or the Video/AV Input? Also, what exactly do you see on your screen when you try to playback the recorded disc?
