Ok, there is a known problem with the iphone 4. There is a second microphone next to the headphone jack that is for recording video. You will need a needle or safety pin.Clean out the small hole with the needle. Don't jam the needle down the hole, you will damage the mic. However, this can get clogged with lint and dirt and stop the recording from having any audio. Be very careful, but clean it out. Record a test video. You should have full functionality.With small microphones, they can get stuck. They work exactly like a speaker in the way they move in and out. A small mic can get pinned by dirt, causing complete absence of sound.
