Would have liked an estimated repair cost or if I could do myself.

Customer Question

Every time I turn it on and play a VHS video, it runs perfect with sound and picture up to 4 or 5 minutes and then shuts down completely until you press the power button again and then it still does the same thing....would it be something overheating and shutting it down?

Optional Information:
Make: RCA with VHS TV
Model: T19064 made in 2000

Already Tried:
Tested it to see if it was the circuit it was plugged into tripping from drawing too much power but it's the same in every circuit I plugged into. Then tested various VHS movies and the same thing happened. So I guess that leaves only something in the TV itself?

AnthonysTV :

Sounds like you have a take reel issue if the tape stops being taken up by the talke up reel the computer will shut the unit down

AnthonysTV :

you will have to watch the deck to see whats going on with the back off and the shields removed

AnthonysTV :

you may have a bad idler wheel

AnthonysTV :

thats swings back and forth between the take up and supply to drive them,
