Hi - I put in my blu-ray disc into my BD650 player and it is making a bad grinding sound and disc won't play.
Optional Information: Make: LG Model: BD650 Already Tried: Taking disc out and closing. Different disc. Putting disc in, pulling tray out so that it closed without pushing button. All have same result
It sounds like the small plastic gears that drive the unit are bad, skipping or in need of lubricant

This is a new player. How might I check out the gears then? It is acting like the tray is misaligned or something.
If this is a new unit I would return it to the place you purchased it.
If you open the unit to do anything at all you will void all warantees on the unit.
But if you do open it up, you will need to open the case to gain access to the players inside and look for the obstruction.
The gears are plastic and if a tooth breaks off the gears or gear, then the try will be tossed off allignment and bind.
Your best bet is to return it and make them fix it.
Was the unit dropped or forced open/closed??
Looking forward to your reply,
Charles
