I missed an appraisal appointment, and now my landlord wants

Customer Question

I missed an appraisal appointment, and now my landlord wants me to pay $1000 for it, plus $500 each day until an appraiser can enter. He said that is what they are charging him. Is this true? And can he do that? I live in a duplex in Wisconsin.

Good morning. I am Loren, a licensed attorney and I look forward to assisting you.

Is there a written lease? Does it provide for such penalty liability? What is the landlord's legal basis for holding you liable for these payments?

What is the purpose of the appraisal?
