Bought a home from realtor. Home inspected by certified

Customer Question

Bought a home from realtor. Home inspected by certified inspector prior to closing. Pulled up the carpet for renovation and discovered water damage and mold. My home insurance will not pay anything because the damage has been there for some time - likely pipes leaking. Plumbing problems were not discovered by home inspector and were not disclosed by realtor or owners. Any recourse.

Do you have any evidence that the sellers knew of the plumbing issue?

No evidence.

In order to proceed against the seller or broker you would need to prove that they knew of the problem and concealed it from you.

The inspector could be liable, but check the contract because they usually have a provision limiting damages to the cost of the inspection.
