Enhanced life estates ("Ladybird Deeds") are not permitted in NC.

The states which allow them are Arizona, Arkansas, California,Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma,Texas, and Wisconsin.
