I am in foreclosure and my lender recently sent me something

This answer was rated:

I am in foreclosure and my lender recently sent me something stating that the IRS informed them that my tax ID does not match what they have on file. Is there any harm in providing correct info to the lender (there is no reason they should not have the correct information in the first place). Is there a way I can send this info directly to the IRS? Lender is asking for a W-9.
