They did not put my name on the deed but I signed as a co-borower will this be an issue in the future?
Welcome! My goal is to do my very best to understand your situation and to provide a full and complete answer for you.
Good evening. It could well be a problem for you. You have liability for a loan and you have no interest in the collateral. So, you have nothing but downside on this and no upside. If the property goes down in value and your co-borrower doesn't pay, you are liable. But, if the property goes up in value, in spite of the risk you have if the property goes down, you get nothing from the sale. You should do all you can do to get yourself on the title...not only for the above reason, but also so that you can force a sale of the property to pay off the mortgage if your co-borrower fails to make payments.
