My Mother died three months ago. Currently both our names appear on the deed for a residential property in Greensboro, NC. I am the only child and sole survivor. The deed has rights of survivorship in accordance with North Carolina law. I simply want to remove my mother's name from the deed. I have her death certificate and a copy of the deed. What do I need to do, to remove her name from the deed?

Welcome! My goal is to do my very best to understand your situation and to provide a full and complete answer for you.
Good afternoon. If the ownership is one of right of survivorship, all you need do is file an Affidavit of Death of Joint Tenant in the real property records in the city/county in which the property is located. Let me know if you need a form for this.
