A vehicle was abandoned on my Michigan residential property. The owner has refused to remove the vehicle for 4 months now. Can I charge Storage Fees and or potentially take ownership of the vehicle, so I can sell it or something like that?
Optional Information: State/Country relating to Question: Michigan Already Tried: Repeated Contact with the owner and have also contacted the police. They claim that they can have it removed. But I believe that I should benifit in some manner minimally for the storage.

Yes I am still waiting on a reply.

I am sorry for the delay you have experienced. Under MI law if a vehicle is left for more than 7 days on private property, the owner may have it towed from the property and would be able to place a lien on that vehicle, which would be secondary to the lienholder on the vehicle. If there is no lien on the vehicle, then once the owner is sent a notice, if they do not claim it in 20 days, you as the lienholder for the storage lien can claim the vehicle and you would have to go to court on the lien to obtain clear title and then you can sell the vehicle for your storage costs.
