In terms of rental agreements/leases, when a lease says August

Resolved Question:

In terms of rental agreements/leases, when a lease says August to August what is the time frame, ie 1st of August or 31st of August? And if the lease says August to August can the landlord tell you to move by the 31st of July, pay rent for July and use your last month payment for August even though you have moved?

If the agreement is from August to August, it would be from August 1st to July 31st. If the lease said from August through August - that would mean the lease is up August 31st.

Also, the landlord cannot charge you rent for a month that you're not there. If he wants you out by July 31st, you don't owe rent for August. If this were allowed, the landlord could collect rent for the same property from two different tenants for the same month - which is illegal (unjust enrichment).
